Cash Bequest

"I give and bequeath the sum of $                          to Congregation Emanuel of the City of New York, or its successor in interest, to be used in support of its general charitable purposes.”

Residuary Bequest

"I give and bequeath (percent) % (or the entire value) of my residuary estate to Congregation Emanuel of the City of New York, or its successor in interest, to be used in support of its general charitable purposes.”

Gift to Be Used in a Specific Area

"I give and bequeath $                                     (or              % of my residuary estate) to Congregation Emanu-El of the City of New York, or its successor in interest, to be used in support of [insert purpose]                       .”

In the event of a gift subject to a restriction, we would appreciate your consulting with us to determine if the restriction is appropriate for Congregation Emanu-El. We also suggest including the following provision:

“If in the judgment of the Board of Directors it becomes or is likely to become impossible or impractical to accomplish the purposes of this gift, the Board shall have the absolute and unfettered authority to use the funds for a purpose that closely aligns with my original intent."
